Rick Hyland - Principal

As I journey through my fourth year as Principal of St. Joseph School, I wholeheartedly believe that our students, their families, and our faculty have truly become one body in Christ. It has been such a blessing to be a part of this community that teaches individuals to not only be incredible life-long learners, but also selfless servants of our community.

Being a new father of a baby girl this past April, has brought so many blessings to my wife and I. I now see my role in this position in a completely different light, for my daughter is now a child of this greater family known as Missoula Catholic Schools. Our school is moving into a new chapter in it's 135 year old history, and I am so proud that my daughter, my wife, and I can be a part of this new vision.

This year, we have selected a new theme for our students, teachers, and parents to follow. It reads; For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35.  This theme of service towards others will be our focus for the year. We will follow in the footsteps of Christ as he was the ultimate servant.

Lastly, I am excited to walk along this path with this incredible community, teaching Catholic values and principles, demanding academic excellence out of every individual, and providing an environment that fosters spiritual and intellectual growth.
